Third arrest for attempted murder after car hits man

A third person has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with a man in Yeovil.

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident at St Patrick’s Road in the town at just after 3.30pm on Sunday, April 4.

Police were called to the scene following a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital, although police say that his injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

The man and woman remain in police custody this morning.

Police have now confirmed a third person – a 55-year-old man – has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “Both people arrested remain in custody at this time.

“They were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“A third man has also been arrested for the same offence.

“ Enquiries are ongoing.”
