Teens arrested following reports of a stabbing in Somerset town

Two teenagers have been arrested following reports of a stabbing in a Somerset town yesterday morning (Wednesday, March 24).

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the incident at Pear Tree Way, Wellington, at 11.20am.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he is being treated, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A man and a woman, both in their late teens, have been arrested.

Wellington residents reported a ‘heavy police presence’ yesterday. Some witnessed an air ambulance leaving the town, although it has not been confirmed whether this is related to the police incident.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Officers attended an address in Wellington at about 11.20 yesterday morning (Wednesday, March 24) following a report of a stabbing.

“The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he is being treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

“A man and a woman, both in their late teens, have been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

“Officers believe this to be an isolated incident and are conducting house to house enquiries in the local area.
