Police are trying to track down a mystery woman who came to the rescue of a “distressed” girl in Taunton.
Avon and Somerset Police believe the Good Samaritan saw the teenage girl being assaulted by a man on Friday (September 4), in the Priorswood area.
It happened at about 8.35pm and the woman intervened, then took the girl home.
An appeal issued by the force late last night read: “The victim is recovering at home and being supported by officers.
“We want to hear from the woman who helped as soon as possible.”
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident, and remained in police custody last night.
Police have asked the woman to call 101, quoting reference 5220201256.
Officers are also keen to talk to anyone with any other information, dash cam or CCTV footage which could help their investigation.
Several people have praised the woman on social media following the police appeal.
One Facebook user commented: “How brave and lovely of this lady.
“So many people nowadays just walk away as they don’t want to get involved.”
Another added: “What a brave lady, need more like her in this world.”
