Man accused of murdering dad-of-five in Yeovil to stand trial

A Somerset man will stand trial in the summer accused of murder.

Matthew Sheridan, 29, is charged with the murder of Louis Bednall, 40 in Yeovil on December 12 last year.

Father-of-five Mr Bednall, from South Devon, was found with stab wounds at a flat in a Hendford Hill and died later in hospital.

Sheridan, of South Petherton, is currently in custody. He did not appear for a short hearing at Exeter Crown Court on Tuesday.

Judge Peter Johnson said a trial would start on July 26. It is due to take place in Exeter.

Anna Vigars, QC, appeared for the Crown. The defendant was represented by Mr David Sapiecha. The trial is due to last seven days.
