SUMMARY:Vivaldi's Four Seasons and The Lark Ascending By Candlelight
DESCRIPTION:Experience breathtaking music by some of classical music’s greatest composers\, performed by some of the country’s finest classical musicians\, all presented in stunning candlelight. \nAt the heart of the concert is Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons\, the most recorded work in classical music and a defining showpiece for solo violin. Each concerto depicts a different season\, shaped by accompanying poems – possibly written by Vivaldi himself. Across the four concertos\, Vivaldi transforms the natural world into vivid musical scenes\, evoking birdsong and buzzing flies\, harvest celebrations\, drunken revellers\, barking dogs\, summer storms and winter ice. \nAlongside this\, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending\, composed on the eve of the First World War\, offers a more reflective perspective. Inspired by George Meredith’s poem\, it captures a pastoral world on the brink of change\, its soaring violin line suggesting a lark gliding high above the mechanised world below\, “lost on his aerial rings / In light\, and then the fancy sings.” \nOpening the programme we have Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro\, an opera drawn from Beaumarchais’ recently banned comedy\, in which a philandering count attempts to seduce his servant’s fiancée\, only to be outmanoeuvred by the servants and his own long-suffering wife. \nWhether you’re already in the know or completely new to classical music\, this is a programme to be enjoyed by all.

The club has recently invested £120\,000 in upgrading its facilities\, including four new hard courts\, two Astro courts\, and improved LED lighting. This open day is an opportunity to celebrate these improvements\, encourage new members to join and remember  \nAndrew Kettle\, club General Manager said: “Although death rates from cancer are falling\, around 169\,000 people die from cancer in the UK each year making it the country’s biggest cause of mortality.  The good news is that these rates are set to fall by 2030 and treatments are improving all the time\, yet everyone knows someone who has been affected by this awful condition. Whilst the theme is serious\, the day will be special and one of remembrance and celebration as both Daniel and Sarah were highly positive people\, enjoyed their tennis and did much for others and the tennis community. We are proud to offer a vibrant\, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events. Our COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s approach to what a supportive community is all about”. \nWhether you’re an elite\, experienced or intermediate player\, improver or novice\, or simply like volunteering\, everyone is welcome. SUMMARY:A Taste of the Regency Era - Jane Austen Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:Dine like it’s 1815: Bath restaurant revives the Indian flavours of Austen’s England for the Jane Austen Festival. \nThe Sepoy Club\, the independent Indian restaurant on Broad Street\, will celebrate the 2026 Jane Austen Festival (11–20th September) with A Taste of the Regency Era — a three-course menu inspired by the dishes that first connected Britain and India two hundred years ago.\nCurry is far more Regency than many festival-goers might imagine. The first curry recipe published in an English cookbook appeared in Hannah Glasse’s The Art of Cookery in 1747\, and by 1810 — while Austen was at work on the novels that made her name — Britain’s first Indian restaurant\, the Hindostanee Coffee House\, had opened in London. Austen herself lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806\, a short walk from Broad Street.\nThe festival menu (£35 per guest) runs for the full ten days and includes the restaurant’s signature Langri Chicken Curry\, Rose & Cardamom Kulfi and a complimentary Rose Lemonade or Elderflower Spritz on arrival\, with vegetarian and vegan choices in every course. Guests who dine in full Regency dress will be welcomed with a complimentary Regency Punch — mixed to a Georgian recipe of dark rum\, lime\, black tea and nutmeg.\nManpreet Brar\, director of The Sepoy Club\, said: “The festival fills Bath with people living the Regency era for ten days — and Indian flavours are a genuine part of that story. Dishes like these were being served in Britain in Austen’s lifetime. This is our way of celebrating the city’s biggest fortnight\, on a street she knew well.”\nTables can be booked at thesepoyclub.co.uk/reservations or on 01225 464 455. Booking is strongly advised for festival weekends.

SUMMARY:Hadestown (Teen Edition)
DESCRIPTION:Zenith Youth Theatre Company presents Hadestown\, the Tony Award-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell. \nHadestown is a bold and electrifying musical that retells the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through a powerful blend of folk\, jazz and modern musical theatre. \nIn a world divided between the cold underground industry of Hadestown and the fragile beauty of the world above\, two young lovers fight to hold onto hope. When Eurydice is drawn into the underworld by the promises of King Hades\, Orpheus must journey into the depths to bring her home.  Guided by Hermes and surrounded by the voices of a powerful chorus\, Orpheus challenges the rules of the underworld with nothing but a song. \nThis production places the ensemble at the heart of the storytelling\, drawing on the traditions of the Greek chorus to create a vivid and immersive theatrical world. \nPerformed by a talented cast of young performers and accompanied by a live band\, Zenith Youth Theatre Company presents a visually striking new production.. With its haunting score\, dynamic ensemble storytelling and timeless themes of love\, hope and resistance\, Hadestown is a theatrical experience that speaks directly to the world we live in today.
