SUMMARY:Bath Tennis Club COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER Event
DESCRIPTION:Bath Tennis Club invites the local community to its COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER on Sunday 13 September 2026. \nThis will be another action-packed day offering a fantastic opportunity to experience the club’s warm welcome\, enjoy a day of tennis\, and appreciate active health whilst remembering absent and ailing friends.  \nThis not-for-profit community amateur sports club\, having recently lost two well-respected and popular members to cancer\, seek to commemorate and celebrate their lives and generosity to the club. Daniel Money\, 27\, and Sarah Griffiths\, 65\, who both past to cancer in September 2025. \nGrateful to their great contributions to the tennis community\, Bath Tennis Club has teamed up with Dorothy House\, the regional palliative care specialist\, and national organisation\, Cancer Research UK to raise funds for the hospice and charity. Price of Bath join them and will kindly to provide pink tennis balls to make this an all-out pink affair. \nThe FESTIVAL starts at noon\, the event is open to all offering a chance for visitors to explore the club\, meet members\, and take part in fun tennis activities with a presence by the two charities and short speeches and raffle prizes galore. Participate in a fun doubles tournament\, junior sessions\, drills\, with tips and techniques\, cardio\, high tempo\, pickleball\, and NEW this year\, walking tennis for the less mobile – all sessions are great fun. \nThe event is free with sign-up\, demand is likely to be high\, and there’s a rolling BBQ (£7 per person) which starts at 2 pm. Visitors can also expect freshly-made PIMMS and home-made cakes. The bar will be open throughout the day\, making it a perfect occasion for socialising with fellow tennis enthusiasts from across the city area. \nBath Tennis Club\, has been at the heart of Bath since 1880\, offering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy tennis. The club has recently invested £120\,000 in upgrading its facilities\, including four new hard courts\, two Astro courts\, and improved LED lighting. This open day is an opportunity to celebrate these improvements\, encourage new members to join and remember  \nAndrew Kettle\, club General Manager said: “Although death rates from cancer are falling\, around 169\,000 people die from cancer in the UK each year making it the country’s biggest cause of mortality.  The good news is that these rates are set to fall by 2030 and treatments are improving all the time\, yet everyone knows someone who has been affected by this awful condition. Whilst the theme is serious\, the day will be special and one of remembrance and celebration as both Daniel and Sarah were highly positive people\, enjoyed their tennis and did much for others and the tennis community. We are proud to offer a vibrant\, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events. Our COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s approach to what a supportive community is all about”. \nWhether you’re an elite\, experienced or intermediate player\, improver or novice\, or simply like volunteering\, everyone is welcome. Come along\, have fun\, and discover why Bath Tennis Club is more than just a place to play – it’s a community and social hub for tennis enthusiasts.  \nThe day is FREE to attend and do wear pink with donations for Dorothy House and Cancer Research being welcomed.

SUMMARY:Hadestown (Teen Edition)
DESCRIPTION:Zenith Youth Theatre Company presents Hadestown\, the Tony Award-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell. \nHadestown is a bold and electrifying musical that retells the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through a powerful blend of folk\, jazz and modern musical theatre. \nIn a world divided between the cold underground industry of Hadestown and the fragile beauty of the world above\, two young lovers fight to hold onto hope. When Eurydice is drawn into the underworld by the promises of King Hades\, Orpheus must journey into the depths to bring her home.  Guided by Hermes and surrounded by the voices of a powerful chorus\, Orpheus challenges the rules of the underworld with nothing but a song. \nThis production places the ensemble at the heart of the storytelling\, drawing on the traditions of the Greek chorus to create a vivid and immersive theatrical world. \nPerformed by a talented cast of young performers and accompanied by a live band\, Zenith Youth Theatre Company presents a visually striking new production.. With its haunting score\, dynamic ensemble storytelling and timeless themes of love\, hope and resistance\, Hadestown is a theatrical experience that speaks directly to the world we live in today.
