This year was supposed to see Zenith return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for ZEF21. Given the ongoing situation, we have decided it’s best for us to put this plan on hold.
Welcome to Zenith’s “Not The Edinburgh Fringe”. Join us as we create our own mini festival of musical theatre right here in Bath and stage three classic musicals across one week in a fabulous outdoor setting in the grounds of the historic Barrow Castle.
Performances will take place in front of a festooned auditorium on the back terrace and lawns of the historic castle with beautiful views overlooking the stunning backdrop of the Combe Hay Valley and village of Englishcombe.
The programme is a real treat for musical overs of all kinds with family fun with the classic Wind in The Willows. A broadway comic/horror classic Little Shop of Horrors and contemporary rock music Spring Awakening.
Wind in the Willows – Follow the story of Mole, Ratty, Badger and Mr Toad as they embark on adventure in the idyllic countryside. A Julian Fellowes musical based on an adaptation of the classic novel about a story of friendship, adventure and the need for speed.
Little Shop of Horrors – Join us as we follow the story of Seymour, Audrey and a very extraordinary plant in a tale of love, sadistic dentistry and murder!
Spring Awakening – Based on the 1891 play, and set in late 19th century Germany, this dark rock musical tells the story of a group of teenagers on their journey through adolescence and the challenges this brings. (recommended for 16+)
Multi award-winning Zenith Youth Theatre Company presents these three musicals with all the production values we are renowned for along with a company of 40 across the three shows and a live band. Experience musical theatre in this enchanting outdoor venue as the mid-summer suns sets of the valley beyond. – A MUST SEE!
