Cycle Tours In Bath

There is so much to see and explore in Bath, from scenic riverside paths to all those little streets, each different, but all steeped in history and beautiful architecture. Sometimes it’s best just to start cycling and see where your curiosity takes you.

If you’d like to explore a Bath cycle path but don’t have a bicycle with you, simply sign up to nextbike for self-service bike hire from nine docking stations around the city, or contact a local hire company, where you can rent bikes of all shapes and sizes for anything from two hours to a full day.

Parents can relax as Bath has many entirely traffic-free cycle routes, allowing you and the family to focus on the historic interests or wildlife along the way. Many of the cycle paths have cafes, pubs and public toilets handily dotted along the way. New cycle maps for Bath and the surrounding area are due out soon, which will be available to pick up for free from the Bath Visitor Information Centre.

For the more adventurous riders, Bath has a number of cross-country routes, some with steep downhill. Mountain bikers – equip yourselves with an OS map, and a stack of sensitivity to the multipurpose use of the bridal ways and trails. Out to the East there are some very steep downhill sections around the University, alternatively in the West around Chew Magna and the Cheddar valley there are some more mellow rides.

With so much going on in the city, bicycle fans might also like to take a look at the different cycling events that take place throughout the year.
